WELCOME! Welcome to the sea project! This research project gives factual information on many different sea creatures written by the grade 3 students. The students have also created aquariums with shells, sea weed and real sand. To access click onto "pictures". The research reports can be easily viewed by clicking the links on the top of the page. INSTRUCTIONS Let's find out how to write a research report. First, you need to choose a sea creature of interest. Then brainstorm and list information you already know and the things you would like to find out. Some headings you may want to use could be appearance, food, habitat and interesting facts. The websites you can use are www.yahoo.com, www.yahooligans.com and www.Google.com. After you have gathered all your information and completed your outline you can start on your rough draft. Use the Paragraph Method Model as your format for each paragraph of your body. This model has 1-topic sentence, 3-detail sentences and 1-concluding sentence. Remember a topic sentence introduces your main idea, detail sentences support your main idea and concluding sentences summarizes your paragraph. Also, each category (appearance, food, habitat and interesting facts) is going to be a new paragraph. After completing the body you can start your introduction and conclusion because it is easier to write what you have already written. Don't forget to revise your work with a partner. You may want to take this one step further and present your findings to the class. You will have a lot of fun and learn many interesting facts. I know the students in my class had fun completing and presenting their research projects. Have fun!
